Frequently Asked Questions

How can I find out which movies will be playing at my theater in advance?

According to my research ( I asked 10 random people on the street) 80% of people check the listings the day they plan on going to the movie. However, if you are in the 20% we realize that you are special. I kid you not when I say we love the special people. So here is how the other 20% of you can figure out in advance the movies and times:

Movie schedules are determined on Mondays and Tuesdays for films opening on Friday of the same week. Schedules are posted on our Web Site by Wednesday. You can also call or e-mail the theater at any time.

Can I buy tickets in advance?

Sure, we love selling tickets anytime you wish to buy them. Tickets may be purchased from the box office or internet as soon as we know we will be showing the film.

Note: purchasing tickets in advance guarantees you a seat to a particular show; however, we do not reserve specific seats in any row. I am working on an assigned seating policy because I remember my third grade teacher loved assigned seats. She said it brought order to the universe. So join the Director's Circle and you will know when this highly confidential policy is released.

In the meantime, highly popular films will generate longer lines as shows sell out quickly. We recommend for the most popular films, during the weekends and holidays that you plan to arrive 20 to 30 minutes prior to the advertised start time.

Director's Circle members will have better access to shows so please join today.

Do you accept credit cards?

It is 2005 and yes we are participating in the Visa/Mastercard takeover of the world.

How long will my movie play in the theater?

The length of time any film will play in any theater is based on how many people come to see it, contractual obligations and time of the year. We love Kung Foo films and Documentaries, but would go out of business rather quickly if that was all we showed. Basically, the more popular a film is with patrons, the longer it will play. There is no way to predict exactly how long a movie will play. In general most films will play at least 14 days.

How do I know which auditorium my movie will play in at the theater?

While every auditorium is stadium seating and high quality sound, we understand some people like the BIG auditorium and some people like the small auditorium. Our auditoriums will be named in a way that should reflect their size and the information will be posted on our website. If you ever have a question you can always e-mail or call us.

Why isn't a certain movie playing at my theater?

We try to play only the best movies in our theatres. Unfortunately, we do not own the films we show, Hollywood studios actually own the films. Being big corporations with hundreds of employees they have systems in place to determine how many prints are made and who gets those prints. In the case of some movies, the studios will make very few prints because their marketing department believes there are a limited number of people who want to see the film. While often incorrect, this is the system. Also, in markets that have more than one theater, Hollywood must decide what is "fair" to "allocate" films as they see fit. We believe theaters should be able to get any film they want because we know our market better than a Hollywood studio marketing department. However, we also recognize that it is not our product. Hence, until we start spending $25M to make our own movies we will graciously abide by the system. In case this is ever read by a Hollywood studio marketing executive, we kid because we love.

What is your Ratings Policy?

The Movies enforces the film rating policies of the MPAA. Period. An adult guardian must accompany or purchase the ticket for anyone under the age of 17 years old who wishes to see a R-rated film. Identification is required if a patron appears to be under the age of 17. We also vehemently oppose censorship of any kind. We will never refuse to show any film based on the opinions of anyone. I thought Million Dollar Baby was the worst film I ever saw. Obviously, that was not the opinion of everyone else who saw the movie including the entire Academy of Arts and Sciences. So who am I to choose what anyone else wants to see?

How do I get information (or who do I contact) about screen advertising?

For information about advertising at The Movies please call us at (814) 333-2727. Also, if you have good ideas on how to make this advertising less annoying and obtrusive please contact us.

Do you reserve seats for large groups?

Yes, we do. If you have a large group and want to rent out a part or all of a theater we will be happy to accommodate you. We also will thank you 20 times while you are there for giving us the opportunity to make your group outing the most fun thing you ever do.
